Intel Arms Netbook with "Cedar Trail" to Compete with Tablet

Cedar Trail – Newest Intel’s Processor for netbook | After launching the Oak Trail chip specifically for the tablet, this time Intel says ready to market a special chip for netbooks, with the name of a similar chip, the Cedar Trail. PC manufacturers, including Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba, Asus, and Samsung will use the platform Cedar Trail since January 2012 with U.S. $ 199 price range.

Intel introduced Cedar Trail  for the first time to consumers at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 (CES 2012) in Las Vegas on the 9th until January 13th. Intel demonstrated doubled graphics performance on a netbook after using this new chip. Intel also talked about their latest chips for other platforms, such as smart phones, tablet, and PC at the event.

Cedar Trail is a system-on-a-chip (SoC) which has a two-core (dual core) that staying to help the battery last longer, as well as helping the overall netbook performance. Intel Atom, introduced two years ago will be updated with this chip, thereby reducing power consumption by 20 percent. With this processor, netbook’s battery can last up to 10 hours of usage.Cedar Trail

Cedar Trail allows netbook to play high definition video and supports for the HDMI port (high-definition multimedia interface port) on the chipset to connect to HD quality television. The new chip is made in two types, namely the N2600 is running at 1.6 GHz with a power of 3.5 Watt. While the N2800, which runs at 1.86 GHz and power of 6.5 Watt.

Cedar Trail is Intel’s important step to "awaken" netbook platform, which continues to decrease with the increasing demand for tablets, especially the Apple iPad. Although netbooks were much reduced demand in the United States and Western Europe, demand for netbooks is growing rapidly in some countries such as India and China.

Previously Intel has introduced Cedar Trail for desktop in September 2011. Meanwhile, the chip for the tablet was introduced in March 2011 under the name Oak Trail. To complement the tablet chip series, Intel will also introduce two other new chip, Medfield or Clover Trail.

Why People Buy Small Laptop Computers?

Why people buy small laptop computers?
Why people buy small laptop computers? What about you? Do you have one? Or consider to buy one this month? Before we draw conclusion to take the best reason why people buy small laptop computer, let us now discuss what is exactly the small laptop computers, or small notebook computers, or whatever you may call a small sized computers.
Basically, the small laptop computers come in two basic configurations. The smallest is an UMPC or Ultra Mobile PC, and the second one is a subnotebook called a netbook. They are setting up a marketing segment called Mini Notebooks.  The most important factor that differentiate UMPC and netbook are their display screen size, processor capability, and operating system.  The UMPC is typically comes with 7 inches screen size or less, while netbook comes in 9 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch screen sizes. Now you can find netbook that has 13 inches screen size. Some people would considerably call it a laptop, not a netbook, but when they figure out its specification, they will agree that it is not a laptop, but a netbook. The size and capabilities of this computers arise such a never ending debate just to categorize that mini laptop into a netbook, UMPC, or laptop. Do you think that 12 inches screen size is too big for a netbook? What about a strong and powerful computer that only equipped with less than 13 inches screen size, is it a laptop?
The mini notebook or laptop form factor is a compelling product because of these two reasons, attractive price and great portability. You can easily find a moderately equipped netbook that can be purchased for under $400. A typical 10 inch display size netbook will have features similar to the following.
  • Atom processor
  • Windows XP Home or Windows 7
  • 160 GB Hard drive
  • Ethernet
  • Mic-in
  • Card reader
  • 2 or 3 USB ports
  • VGA Out
  • 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connection
  • Webcam
  • Available in Colors
The very first generation of netbook was only equipped with 2 GB SSD Card for the storage. Now, you can have 250GB Hard Drive on your cheap netbook. Those small laptop computers or netbooks are indeed very powerful little devices and with the added bonus of being extremely lightweight and compact. I think you will agree that it is more ideal for a person who needs to travel a lot as they will simply fit into your briefcase or handbag. The netbook is also ideal for the student or the traveler who needs internet connectivity, email, and basic word processing capability.
Dealing with its very compact keyboard size, I think netbook is not suitable for people who works a lot typing long scripts. Netbook’s small sized keyboard will easily make your fingers cramps. The largest keyboards in the netbook category comes in at approximately 90% of full keyboard size. So if your job asks you to do a lot of typing activities, you’d better buy a regular laptop.
The best advantage is certainly the overall value you achieve when buying your mini laptop computer. It is no longer only a luxury item to those who earn huge amounts of money. No, indeed the variety of small notebook computers on the market can fit the pocket of most individuals. This would be an ideal gift to consider when you have children that are going to college. They can take down notes directly on their small notebook computer and also aid the environment by using less paper. It is a tool that will most certainly be used to its maximum capacity as it is very trendy and multifunctional.

Acer Aspire One 532G: Need Another Strong Graphics Performance Netbook?

Acer Aspire One 532G Red Take a look at the Acer Aspire One 532G specification. It uses the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, which is also used by many latest netbook out there. The 10.1” screen is also not outstanding. The 2GB RAM? Not that impressive as you can upgrade your netbook’s RAM easily. Or maybe the 320GB hard drive? 320GB HDD is now become so common for netbooks or notebooks. So how can Acer Aspire One 532G be stand out of the crowd?
The first thing that maybe a justified reason for you to buy this Acer’s netbook is the built in 3G HSDPA modem in it. Although some will say that external modem will work much better, but I think this can be a advantage for a netbook that mainly made for those who travel a lot when Wifi connection is not that easy to find.
The most advantage you can take by buying Acer Aspire One 532G is that it uses 2 GPUs. The first GPU is the Intel GMA 3150, and the second is the famous NVIDIA Ion GPU. Some netbooks have been using this GPU like the HP Mini 311. Acer Aspire One 532G is the first Ion netbook in the world. This netbook features switchable NVIDIA Ion 2 graphics chip, which you can activate when watching HD videos or playing games. While the Intel GMA 3150 is used when you don’t need strong graphics performance like when you are typing on Microsoft Word.
Despite its strong graphic performance, the Acer Aspire One 532G will give you 10 hours of battery life. Isn’t that great?
Here are the Acer Aspire One 532G specification:
10.1" Glossy Widescreen
1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor,
GMA 3150 GPU graphics,
2GB of RAM
320GB hard drive
discrete NVIDIA Ion GPU
Windows 7 Starter OS
Wifi
3 USB ports
LAN
3G HSDPA
6-cell battery

HP 311-1002TU Mini – Black

Looking for a mini notebook that can support your graphic needs? This HP Mini 311-1002 has it all. Bundled with HP Premium DVDRW External.

HP 311-1002TU Mini Black Actually the HP Mini 311-1002 is not a notebook. It is a netbook. The product is not new anymore. But still some people out there recommend this netbook as the first yet the best ION 1 netbook. If your budget on buying new netbook is a little bit limited, or you think that the new ION2 netbooks are not worth buying, than this HP Mini 311 is the best choice.

For me, a 14 inches notebook is just too big, while the 10,2 inches netbook is too small. I have no problem with the screen, but the keyboard is too narrow that it is so exhausting to type on it. This HP Mini 311 has 11.6 inches screen. That make this netbook small enough to be your best companion on the go. This Ion netbook is also the best choice for you when you prefer to play your favorite games on a smaller screen. Beside that, its comfortable keyboard will make you type faster as if you are typing on your desktop keyboard.

Here what you will get from the best Ion netbook:

MSI Wind U230, a 12-inch New Netbook with dual-core AMD Processor

MSI Wind U230 is one example of a gadget that you will have to think hard to categorize it. Is it a notebook or just a netbook? You have your very own argument then on how should we define netbooks. MSI itself is calling the MSI Wind U230 as a replacement for the MSI Wind U210 netbook series. So is this really a netbook?

MSI-U230 Now lets see the screen. Wind U230 has 12.1 inch screen. Usually that size doesn’t belong to netbook. Then, it has 2 GB of RAM. How much is your recent netbook RAM? What else? What about the operating system? This newest netbook brings you Windows 7 Home Premium ( instead of Starter). And the last thing to make you think that it is not a netbook, the processor. It uses dual-core processor inside. Not a dual-core Atom, but an AMD chip coupled with an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card.

Find the MSI Wind U230 best price on Amazon.

You can now call this a notebook, or you can still insist that it is a netbook. It is absolutely yours to decide. LOL.

The MSI Wind U230 actually comes in two models: the Wind U230-033 with an AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU and a 250GB hard drive; the Wind U230-040 with an AMD Athlon X2 L335 CPU and a 320GB hard drive. Otherwise, the two models are identical from their HD displays (16:9, 1366 x 768 WXGA), b/g/n wi-fi, 1.3MP webcam and 6-cell batteries. And, of course, HDMI out amongst the usual ports.

The only problem that is seemingly to arise is the battery. Both models can only last for 4 hours computing. You can not be far away from outlet then.

Samsung Introduces Four Atom N450 Netbooks

Samsung Atom N450 Netbooks Early this year, Atom N450 netbooks start to appear. Not to be outdone by Acer, Samsung also announced the presence of these netbooks. Unmitigated, Samsung and even introduced four models at once: N210, N220, N150 and NB30. All four were equipped with anti-glare screen 10.1 ".

The fourth model is distinguished by its battery endurance. N210 and N220 are the most durable, the battery life when connected to the Internet is claimed to reach 12 hours. The next number is 11 hours, which carried by NB30. While the N150 can last for 8.5 hours. Longer battery life is possible because Samsung succeeded in reducing the absorption display through the application of LED technology, which is supported by Enhanced Battery Life.

N150 appears somewhat different from the others. This is because of the integrated hinges. NB30 is quite special. Understandably, its hard drive has shock sensor features. So the hard drive will be parked when it is fallen or so. It is also completed with a waterproof pencil that can protect from the spill of  50cc of water (but water must be dried within 10 seconds, a similar spill-resistant technology available on Lenovo notebooks).

Another attraction is located on the casing netbook mentioned anti-scratch. Does this mean the end of the lap-wiping fingerprints on netbook? I hope so. Then how much the four latest Samsung netbook this? Samsung has not announced it. Schedule presence was certainly not yet available. However, Atom N450 netbooks promised it appeared in January this in several Asian countries.

Acer Aspire One AO532h: $299!!! Patient Enough To Wait?

Acer AO532H $299

Acer with its Aspire One is now trying to be the best selling netbook in 2010 (again). As they successfully put Aspire One as the best selling netbook in 2008. Acer’s first move is the Acer Aspire One AO532H. Powered with the new Intel Atom N450 processor, 10 hours battery life (hopefully…), and here is the best part of it: you can bring it home for  $299. It seems like other producers like HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, and Samsung have to find other way to beat it.

What will you get for this $299 netbook?

The Acer Aspire One AO532H is powered with Intel Atom N450, that now become a new standard for netbooks, replacing the N270 and N280. It will also come with 6-cell batteries that are boasted to give you 10 hours computing. You will also get Acer’s FineTip keyboard that hopefully large enough not to make your fingers cramping while typing a rather lot documents. For the OS, you’ll get Windows 7 (unfortunately it is only a Starter Edition), some said that this new Microsoft OS is not so great for netbook baterry life. But Intel’s Pine Trail CPUs are more energy-efficient, and help to give back some of the battery life Windows 7 steals. Acer also claims that the 10.1-inch LED-backlit TFT LCD saves 22.2 percent power compared with other netbook displays. Other specs are quite standard like other netbooks on the market: a b/g/-draft-n wireless card, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, and standard spread of ports.

Except the new Intel N450 processor, you will not get anything new from this new Acer Aspire One AO532H compared to other netbooks, but the price that only $299 will attract people to get it as it is available on the market.

The Best Ion Netbook

The Best Ion Netbook

Netbook is now conquering the world because of its ultra-light, affordable, and offer long battery life. One thing that everyone will sacrifice is a good graphics performance. When the HP Mini 311 with Nvidia’s Ion started its debut months ago, people then realized that netbook can be that tough in doing or experiencing such task that traditional netbooks users will complain about, playing mainstream games, playing high-definition videos, or any other jobs that need strong graphics capabilities. It is hard to find the best Ion netbook out there.

Seems like Atom combined with Ion is now giving a new hope for netbook’s users. Some netbooks have Ion GPU on their machines, like The HP Mini 311, Lenovo IdeaPad S12, ASUS Eee PC 1201N and Samsung N510. Are you looking for the best Ion netbook? The answer is HP Mini 311. If you want to find out more why the HP Mini 311 deserves to be the best Ion netbook then you should visit here.

MSI Wind U160

The MSI Wind U160 is the totally redesigned 10-inch netbook from MSI. The pictures show us that MSI tries to present a trim and classy look from the netbook.
